The Director-General, Technical of the Ghana Police Service COP George Alex Mensah has been interdicted by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare.

The Announcement

The decision was taken as a result of his involvement in the leaked audio recording about the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare . After the audio went viral, Parliament has set up an ad hoc committee to probe the scandal where COP Mensah appeared and made startling revelations about the police service.

In the midst of the probe, a statement signed by Director General, Administration, COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has announced the interdiction of COP Mensah with immediate effect.

COP Alex Mensah is the Director General, Technical of the Ghana Police Service, who boasts of 31 years in the Service, has challenged portions of the tape, describing them as edited.

Appearing before the Atta Akyea Committee, he said the IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, is the worst Ghana has ever had in his 31 years if active service.

IGP’s Decision

He was instructed to hand over his weapons, uniforms, and other police belongings to Depol Logistics.

“Kindly be informed that you are interdicted with immediate effect following your involvement in the leaked tape being investigated by Parliament”.

Conclusion

Despite being on leave, pending his retirement from the Service, the former Accra Regional Commander is to hand over all police accoutrements or properties including his authority badge to the DEPOL Logistics authorities.
